I have been running 9.3 without issues but it seems when I upgraded to 9.4 I started running into issues booting with an error stating that there was unsupported hardware found with reference to the megaraid controller, which in my case is the Dell PERC H710 Mini on a R720XD.
when selecting the 9.3 kernel at the boot menu, everything seems fine. letting it boot into 9.4 halts withthe error.
Am I stuck at 9.3?, or is there something that I’m missing to get the 9.4 to run as expected?
Thank you
Verify that you were using drivers from elrepo and update them accordingly. If you used a DUD to install Rocky Linux 9, you need the appropriate driver after the fact.
https://elrepo.org/
https://elrepo.org/linux/elrepo/el9/x86_64/RPMS/
Or migrate to Alma linux.
They are not 1:1 rebuild of RHEL anymore, and I read somewhere that they did reverted this change (obsoleting some old but still used SAS/raid controllers) by redhat.
If you decide to go this path, please let us know if it worked…
My 9.4 install was an upgrade from 9.3.
Ill have to check which repos are installed in 9.4 comparitavely
I suppose i would have expected the repos to go with the upgrade.
That would make sense thinking about it. I believe 9.4 completely removed a bunch of drivers in general. Elrepo may have the driver you’ll need to get things working in the latest kernel.
It will help if you post the device ID for your raid controller. Running ‘lspci -nn’ will show the IDs.
