Building frotz from the source

Hello all,

Recently I installed the Rocky Linux 9 and I was very surprised when I realized there is no frotz package for playing Zork in any repository, not even RPM fusion. Are you familiar on
a) how to obtain it
b) how to build it from source
or
c) any RL alternatives to it?

Any help is very appreciated.

Thank you

This is the source and contains links to various places; Frotz

You can find a list of other z-code (infocom) interpreters here; Z-code interpreters - IFWiki

It looks like they want you to read the file called ‘INSTALL’, and then edit the Makefile, and then run the Makefile.

The Makefile has some helpful comments above each section.

Maybe it’s just easier to do:

dnf install epel-release
dnf install zork

From my system:

root@rocky9:~# dnf install zork

I’ve read the instructions in INSTALL file as sugested and they seem easy to follow. I will try to do so during the week. Thank you.

Regarding the zork package, I don’t want to play only this game, but other like planetfall too, so the frotz is really necessary for me. But thank you for your suggestion.
