UnPlugging RePlugging Wacom kiils session

Hello, I experience a few times now the behavior, so I think it is worth mentioning.
My SETUP:

4.18.0-372.32.1.el8_6.x86_64
NAME=“Rocky Linux”
VERSION=“8.6 (Green Obsidian)”
ID=“rocky”
ID_LIKE=“rhel centos fedora”
VERSION_ID=“8.6”
PLATFORM_ID=“platform:el8”
PRETTY_NAME=“Rocky Linux 8.6 (Green Obsidian)”
ANSI_COLOR=“0;32”
CPE_NAME=“cpe:/o:rocky:rocky:8:GA”
HOME_URL=“https://rockylinux.org/
BUG_REPORT_URL=“https://bugs.rockylinux.org/
ROCKY_SUPPORT_PRODUCT=“Rocky Linux”
ROCKY_SUPPORT_PRODUCT_VERSION=“8”
REDHAT_SUPPORT_PRODUCT=“Rocky Linux”
REDHAT_SUPPORT_PRODUCT_VERSION=“8”

I am hook to a GCS1944 IOGear switch for monitors and Wacom.

When I am switching from computers and my wacom is not enabled after switch for some reason, if I unplug my usb-C cable from the Wacom and re-plug to get it re discovered, it does a point blank logout of my session.
Instant logout. Wacom Intuos PRO M (PTH-660)

Thank you

Tanguy

Can you test it direct, without the switch?

Hey Gerry, I just did, same result, after 2 or 3 unPlug rePlug, it killed the session

Some things to consider:

  1. Rocky 8.7 is now out, so you can update to get newer kernel and all other updated packages between 8.6 and 8.7 to see if that resolves it.

  2. You can enable elrepo dnf install elrepo-release and then try installing kernel-lt or kernel-ml from the elrepo-kernel repository. Kernel-LT is 5.14, Kernel-ML 6.0 - they could also help since newer than the default 4.x kernel that Rocky 8 has. Eg:

dnf install kernel-ml --enablerepo=elrepo-kernel

Thank you, I will try that and come back to you !

Hey, I did it and when restarting I got this line and seems staled.
"0.138843 SELinux: CONFIG_SECURITY_SELINUX_CHECKPOINT_VALUE is non-zero.
This is deprecated and will be rejected in a future kernel release.

I removed the kernel for now, lol, better like that ahah
