Rockylinux 10.2 KDE cannot mount usb device via Disks&Devices -> Mount and Open

After upgrading to 10.2 i can no longer use the KDE popup Disks&Devices. It will not mount my USB device. Output when trying to “Mount and Open” is “you are not authorized to mount this device.”

It turns out that this was related to an error in KDE Discover, where i get “Failed to obtain authentication.” when starting KDE Discover.

The solution to this error was to reboot, and then it all runs just fine.

As KDE is from EPEL, it sounds like a bug that the EPEL team needs to fix.

If it works with the default Rocky desktop, eg: Gnome, then that would confirm that it’s a KDE issue. If it doesn’t work with Gnome, then that would mean a Rocky problem that needs to be fixed.
