Installing Rocky on an SBC using RPi image - Radxa ROCK 2A RK3528A

Hi, I admit I’m coming here first, to get quick answers.

I was wondering how straightforward it should be to install Rocky Linux on a Single Board Computer similar to a Raspberry Pi (in this case a Radxa ROCK 2A).

I recently got the board and decided to start by installing Rocky on it. But I am not sure if I have maybe the wrong power cable, or am not aware of how to boot this board correctly, or if Rocky’s RPi image does not support this board at all.

I followed the Pi image’s README that explains you restore the image to the boot SD card (I used Gnome Disks) and boot up the environment. But I am getting no signal from the computer on my monitor.

Should be able to just throw the RPi image on an SD card and boot, on such a board as the Rock 2A? Or is this something that usually requires more leg work? I’m not sure at what level I am screwing up lol.
Just getting an idea before I go down a rabbit hole testing images. I’d really like to try Rocky first if I can.

Unfortunately, your suspicion is correct. I did some real brief reading and that board will require a few things. 1. uboot (sometimes from Radxa, but other times from the Rocky Linux uboot-tools package) and 2. a kernel that supports that SoC. our raspberry pi image is built to work only on Raspberry Pi hardware. If you’re interested in trying to do some legwork to get it online, we can try to walk you through the process. Join us in the Sig/AltArch channel on Mattermost if you want more details.

Hello sadnehs. Currently, the radxa boards are a bit tricky. You can find more information at the SIG/AltArch wiki as well
