Judging by the Wikipedia pages for CentOS and Rocky Linux, it will be coming with the GNOME Shell as the default desktop. However, I was wondering if it may be an idea to offer MATE or Xfce as alternatives during setup. Just a thought, but it may be good for attracting users and companies with less powerful machines.

The other point that thread makes, which I agree with. Is that rocky is a 1:1 replacement for centos 8. So whats available from the centos baseOS repo, will the same in the rocky BaseOS repo. KDE should remain part of epel.
