Cannot install package libgomp-8.5.0-4.el8_5.x86_64

After upgrade Rocky Linux from 8.4 to 8.5, I get the following error as I try to update my system:

Last metadata expiration check: 0:42:23 ago on Tue 16 Nov 2021 12:41:31 HKT.
Error:

I can’t fix it by trying all suggested options in the error message, please help.

Are you excluding packages in your dnf/repo configuration? Are you selectively running updates rather than just running dnf update? If at all possible, please provide rpaste --sysinfo.

Dear nazunalika
As per my understandig below two package are missing in appstream which are causing update the issue.

libstdc+±devel-8.5.0-4.el8.x86_64 and gcc-8.5.0-4.el8.x86_64

Their available version are gcc-8.5.0-3.el8.x86_64 and libstdc+±devel-8.5.0-3.el8.x86_64

Further more i tested AlmaLinux and did not observe this error. Then tried to compare it with AlmaLinux

and

Alama is not providing libstdc+±8.5.0-4.el8.x86_64 and libgomp-8.5.0-4.el8.x86_64 whose update is causing the issue.

EFI Support

Hi linuxlover,

Then you mean these packages missing in Rocky Linux cause this problem? If it is the case, do you mean it will be fixed automatically once these two packages are available?

Similar as here, I think package name is problem here: Rocky Linux 8.4 to Rocky Linux 8.5 update issues - #4 by iwalker it should be el8 and not el8_5.

We’ve observed that mirrors.rockylinux.org currently serves mirrorlists for “AppStream” where each URL points to the “kickstart” tree instead of the “os” tree. For example:

$ curl 'https://mirrors.rockylinux.org/mirrorlist?arch=x86_64&repo=AppStream-8' 2>/dev/null | head -n 5
# repo = rocky-AppStream-8.5 arch = x86_64 country = global
http://la.mirrors.clouvider.net/rocky/8.5/AppStream/x86_64/kickstart/
http://dl.rockylinux.org/pub/rocky/8.5/AppStream/x86_64/kickstart/
http://mirror.i3d.net/pub/rockylinux//8.5/AppStream/x86_64/kickstart/
https://mirror.yandex.ru/rockylinux/8.5/AppStream/x86_64/kickstart/

The problem w.r.t. the missing libstdc++-devel-8.5.0-4.el8_5 update package most likely stems from this.

This should help. :slightly_smiling_face:

In majority of cases, I would never suggest allowerasigin or nobest - Our mirror manager for some reason decided it wanted to choose the kickstart directory rather than os, which is where all the updated packages live. BaseOS seems fine, but it seems the other core repositories aren’t, we’ll look into it and updates should be able to go through.
