Rocky Linux Kernel Release Cadence

Does rocky linux maintain its own Linux kernel fork or does it ship with a standard kernel from Linux stable? Additionally, how much time is typical for an upstream Linux stable release to make its way into an update to Rocky’s kernel package?

We do not maintain our own fork, nor do we provide a standard kernel. We use the sources as developed and provided by Red Hat in their kernels. Our kernel versions will generally match RHEL versions.

If you are looking for a newer kernel, consider using elrepo. They provide mainline and LTS kernels, and they typically keep up with upstream Linux kernel releases.

ELRepo publishes kernel-ml and kernel-lt.
