Installing a stable upstream kernel

CIQ recommends using a “stable upstream kernel” instead of the vendor kernel included with a distro. How would I do that? Is there a repo to enable to switch to this kernel? Or do we need to build them ourselves?

Please see our resources guide, which will point you to using elrepo for newer kernels. SIG/Kernel will also have kernels at some point, but it is not explicitly listed yet.
