I was checking if Rocky 10 will have bootc 1.x.x (which it currently does), but on git.rockylinux.org there’s usually always two groups with the same list of repos:
staging/rpms
staging/src-rhel/rpms
I’m assuming both won’t immediately make it to the mirrors upon commit (due to them being under staging
), similar to CentOS Stream.
But what is the difference between the two groups?
I’m assuming that it is different import sources.
Am I correct with my assumptions? I’d really want to know. Also, what are the sources for the two groups?
Also which one is used for production after the package becomes ready?
staging/src-rhel/rpms
This is a combination of sources from CentOS Stream and RHEL. cXs
are stream specific branches. Anything without the s
may come from RHEL or Stream depending on the package (this is almost always the case with Rocky Linux 8; majority updates appear in stream’s repos first).
staging/rpms
This is the “imported” packages that come from src-rhel/rpms. We do this because some packages will need to be patched (staging/patch
) and it allows our build systems to track the tags and commits for those imports. In other words, those git repos are what we build from and may contain changes.
The branch names are translated to rX
.
Note that 99% of Rocky Linux 10 has started from the r10s branch in the repos. When we release, we will try to update the r10 branches at the same time as time permits.
Thank you! That was very informative.
Whoops. So it turns I could have logged in to the @0xC4aE1e5 account and I entered the incorrect username in Keycloak. Whoops!
I unlinked the account in hopes to stop that. You can delete that account. You can also just delete the charles2 account from Noggin/Keycloak.
I will disable the account in noggin for now to see if that helps. If you have any issues, let us know!
Optionally, I can look into merging your forums accounts together into one, so that way you can keep your post history from the previous account. If you’d like us to do that, let us know.
