NIS (ypserv) on Rocky Linux 9?

Hi,

Our local school uses a bone-headed centralized authentication setup with NIS/NFS. I’m aware of the various flaws of NIS, but it’s been working well since we installed our first CentOS 5 server back in 2010.

Currently NIS (ypserv) is running on a Rocky Linux 8 server. I understand NIS has been officially deprecated by Red Hat.

Now I wonder if the corresponding packages can be built (at all) on Rocky Linux 9. I’m currently running my own little package repository for some stuff that’s missing. No idea if this is either trivial to build or if I have to expect a nightmare.

Any thoughts on this ?
