Hi, I purchased a virtual server from some serverhosting company. Then I installed Rocky Linux using their web-based console. I couldn’t use my own ISO image, I could only choose “Rocky 9.2 ISO” in their web administration. Now the system is installed, I can connect there as root over ssh. How can I check if the system was really installed from original Rocky ISO without any modifications or backdoors from serverhosting company?
Regards
Mike
Most hosting companies have their own install images for an OS. I would seriously doubt that a reputable hosting company would backdoor their images. That would just be plain stupid. If anyone with any security knowledge found that out and published of such a situation, that hosting company would be finished immediately - nobody would do business with them.
