Documentation: Installing the Terminator terminal emulator

Hello,

I am trying to install Terminator as per instructions here:

Epel repo is enabled:

dnf repolist enabled
repo id repo name
appstream Rocky Linux 10 - AppStream
baseos Rocky Linux 10 - BaseOS
crb Rocky Linux 10 - CRB
epel Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux 10 - x86_64
extras Rocky Linux 10 - Extras
rpmfusion-free-updates RPM Fusion for EL 10 - Free - Updates
rpmfusion-nonfree-updates RPM Fusion for EL 10 - Nonfree - Updates

Search gives no result:
dnf search terminator
Last metadata expiration check: 0:05:05 ago on Wed 12 Nov 2025 03:11:03 PM CET.
No matches found.

Any suggestions how to get terminator installed ?

Hello @0x0 , Unless the EPEL builds this for 10, you will probably have to find a new terminal emulator (myself included). The reason I say this is that the terminator project moved to GitHub in 2020, but since then has languished with little development. You can attempt to see if the EPEL will build it. Instructions for that are here: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/epel/epel-package-request/ It looks, though that, like me, you may have to move to a new terminal emulator on 10.

I’ll update the instructions with a hold for now.

I’ve been using Tabby for a long time now as a replacement to Terminator: GitHub - Eugeny/tabby: A terminal for a more modern age

You can also use tmux and make split window consoles like Terminator.

Hi @sspencerwire , thanks for information. I just looked at terminator gituhub , last commit was 2 months ago and also koji has built packages also around that time. At least is not stalled and could probably be built localy…

Thanks @iwalker , Tabby seems that it could fit as replacement, filled with options.
Will check it out, tnx for info.
