Cannot find/install xrdp on Rocky Linux 10 (dnf search no match)

Hello,

I’m trying to set up RDP on Rocky Linux 10 but cannot locate the xrdp package. I’m following the Desktop Sharing via RDP.

When installing xrdp, i get this error: No match for argument: xrdp. Error: Unable to find a match: xrdp

What I did so far:

  1. Enabled EPEL: sudo dnf install epel-release -y

  2. Enabled CRB: sudo dnf config-manager --set-enabled crb

  3. sudo dnf clean all and sudo dnf makecache.

  4. Ran dnf search xrdp.
    dnf search xrdp returns “No matches found.” dnf repolist shows epel and crb are enabled.

The same issue happens when i try to install x11vnc. I feel like im missing something super obvious, thanks for the help.

The xrdp package will likely be available from EPEL when 10.1 is released.

@label Are you sure about that, doesn’t xrdp need the x11 server in the backend? Which is not available for 10.

To do RDP desktop sharing in EL10 you are supposed to use the built-in functionality of GNOME now,
specifically in GNOME settings → System → Remote Desktop → Remote Login tab (not the Remote Sharing tab).
This makes it possible to share a wayland session without user interaction.

(RHEL 10 docs for this)

Ah interesting looks like the necessary parts are still there to build and install, though not sure if screen sharing would work without the X11 server component.

Can someone try this on RL10

rpm -q --provides gnome-remote-desktop

$ rpm -q --provides gnome-remote-desktop
application()
application(org.gnome.RemoteDesktop.Handover.desktop)
gnome-remote-desktop = 47.3-2.el10_0
gnome-remote-desktop(x86-64) = 47.3-2.el10_0
group(gnome-remote-desktop)
user(gnome-remote-desktop) = dSBnbm9tZS1yZW1vdGUtZGVza3RvcCAtICJHTk9NRSBSZW1vdGUgRGVza3RvcCIgL3Zhci9saWIvZ25vbWUtcmVtb3RlLWRlc2t0b3AA

Interesting output, on 9.6 I see

bundled(libvncserver) = 0.9.13
gnome-remote-desktop = 40.0-11.el9_6
gnome-remote-desktop(x86-64) = 40.0-11.el9_6
