I have mounted the smb shares and created the desktop icon file under /etc/skel/Desktop.
Here is the content of the file called smb.desktop

Version=1.0
Type=Link
Icon=/usr/share/icons/mate/scalable/devices/drive-harddisk-symbolic.svg
Icon[en_US]=mate-panel-launcher
Name[en_US]=SMB
URL=/mnt/SMB
Name=SMB
I have also created the same file in /usr/share/applications.

However, it doesn’t show up in the Desktop when remotely acccessing. I am running rocky linux 8.8 and using remote software NoMachine
