Cannot find hplip-gui on Rocky 10

Hello to all of you. I cannot install my HP all-in-one printer because oddly enough the package hplip-gui is not in the repos of Rocky 10.

Please help me, I’m a newbie of Rocky.

Thanks in advance.

It doesn’t exist in Rocky 9 either. Last version to have hplip-gui was Rocky 8. The same situation with RHEL9 and RHEL10 as well.

It would require building it yourself, or perhaps asking if someone at EPEL would build it. As you can see here: https://pkgs.org/search/?q=hplip-gui it doesn’t exist for any EL9 or EL10 variants (Alma for example).

How to make a request to add to EPEL: Requesting a new package in EPEL :: Fedora Docs

The other alternative if you know how to build packages, is grab a source RPM from Fedora, and build hplip-gui yourself with mock of a post that I wrote on this forum: Install recent HPLIP with GUI on Rocky Linux 8.x and 9.x - #2 by iwalker you can use my instructions there and adapt it for Rocky 10.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been able to get a Brother MF working with CLI. I’ve written it up at https://srobb.net/cliscanprint.html . It should work with most network printers.

There is a missing ‘c’ in the URL.

Thanks, for letting me know. It’s fixed now.

What is “fixed”?

The original question is about HP’s HPLIP driver for HP’s older printers.

The python version 3.13 breaks HP’s code. String processing around the “\” character.

My 2c

Sorry for the lack of clarity. I had put a link to my article, @toracat pointed out that I had mistyped it, and I corrected the link. “fixed” meant that my listing of the link had been fixed.
