I recently tried to install Rocky 9 on an older HP laptop, but I was unable to get the install disc to work. Is there a way to be able to install Rocky on this older equipment?

Can you install Rocky 8?
Will need to know a lot more than this. As in why couldn’t you install it and what errors were encountered? Was it a segfault due to unsupported CPU (x86_64-v2), which should be easy enough to confirm if Rocky 8 can be installed as per @toracat’s reply.
I am afraid that Rocky 8 would not install either. I apologize in not being able to give you more information. I did install Debian 11 which worked well on it. This was done for a woman at the office, and I gave the unit back to her.
