Supermicro 3015MR-H8TNR / rocky linux 10 / micron 7500 pro / matrix degradation

Hi

I installed roky linux 10 on 3015MR-H8TNR / 2x micron 7500 Pro RAID1.
The installation went without a problem, but at the end of the installation this information appeared

I have updated the firmware of the micron 7500 pro drives to version E3MQ005.
But the system array restarts with errors and the array is degraded.

What is the problem?

Hi
Before offering any solution, let’s clarify the following: Does it install normally RL9 or RL8 ?
Were there any previous installations of on these drives in this machine?
RAID1 is soft from RL10 installation?

  1. Yes, identical configuration/installation works without a problem on RL9, on identical hardware
  2. No, the disks were completely new, taken out of the box
  3. Yes, software RAID1 provided by RL10

Just in case, /boot/efi cannot be a raid partition. We cannot see that in the screenshot about but thought I would point it out.

/boot/efi partition is also on the raid partition. It does not prevent it from working properly on LRL9

Just gonna test this

Actually yes, this works  well I’ve just installed RL9 and RL10 and both boot fine with efi on raid.

as you can see here I’m booted in raid for /boot, /boot/efi and /

You could ensure before rebooting after installation, by switching to a console window and then doing cat /proc/mdstat to make sure all the raid partitions have finished syncing - just in case it’s related to this. At which point then restart and see if it boots.

Mine was done in a VM on NVMe disks, so it was synced quick - also my disks were only 40GB. If you are still experiencing problems after this it could well be hardware related. At this point I would attempt the installation again, but configure /boot/efi as a standard partition without raid to see if it works.
