To also digress a little: I have a copr for LXDE which is at least similar in spirit to XFCE. To use it, you need an X server. I’m using it together with TurboVNC inside a VM and it works pretty well for me.
I’ve also put together a copr for xorg-x11-server, but still need to get a second computer to test this on real hardware. This copr contains a rebuild of Fedora’s X server and lightdm as a display manager. I’m quite sure that this is enough to get X back to el10. Testers are welcome.
