MySQL 8.1 was released sometime in July this year. Is there a Yum repository that exists for Rocky Linux 9/Rocky LInux 8?
The one shared on the official MySQL page is for MySQL 8.0 which is the default for Rocky 8 / Rocky9.
wget https://dev.mysql.com/get/mysql80-community-release-{platform}-{version-number}.noarch.rpm

rocky supplies mariadb-server-10.3.35 for mysql on Rocky 8.8.
this may not be what you want, if you want a genuine oracle mysql with the support that comes with, and in that case I would suggest looking at Oribles web site and installing the version for Rhel 8 or 9 as appropriate.
I use the above Mariadb and for my requirements its 1 to 1 equivalent to Mysql.
