Probably because gpaste doesn’t exist for Rocky Linux, RHEL, Alma or any of the other clones. It does however exist for Fedora. So in theory you can use mock and build it yourself if it’s really annoying for you.
Rocky only includes the packages that RHEL have. So if RHEL doesn’t have gpaste, then neither does Rocky (Or Alma either). So if you want to blame anyone for the lack of gpaste, blame Red Hat. Or you could make a package request to EPEL and ask them nicely and maybe they will package it for you. You can google “epel package request” to find that page.
Search for “fedora source rpms” in google, click the link, and then search for gpaste. Then you can download the source RPM and try to build it with mock yourself if you really need it.
Also, great resource to search for package: https://pkgs.org - if you had searched there, you would see that the package doesn’t exist for any of the above mentioned distros.
Gpaste and other similar tools are very helpful if you work with different applications at the same time and if you have copy & past many values between them. I personaly use fedora 43.
I wonder that nobody else miss this powerfull tool?
Thanks for the hint - I’ll ask the EPEL guys if they can provide gpaste in the future.
And yes I searched pkgs.org aswell. No luck at all.
BTW: Is there any plan or chance to get the cinnamon desktop env for Rocky 10 some fine day?
Believe me, I’m waiting for it too I’ve got Rocky 9 with Cinnamon I just love this desktop. I expect a lot of the problems with it are due to the fact that Rocky 10 is Wayland only. I’ve seen people building it on COPR but they are generally incomplete and missing a lot of stuff.
I expect it will be someday, but it will be similar to my Rocky 9 no doubt that we install it from COPR. Either that or EPEL end up packaging it. It’s a ton of work, so will take a while.
