Intel VROC support

Hi,

I’m installing a new system with NVMe drives in a Intel VROC RAID 1 setup. According to the Intel documentation the driver should be present in RHEL >= 7.5

But i can’t get it working and as far as i know there is no specific RHEL 8.x driver. I’d like to know how i can get the VROC volume recognized by Rocky Linux 8.4

What is the PCI ID of the device. lspci -nn

Hi,

I would need a shell during install? Cause i want to install RL 8.4 on the VROC RAID volume.

It should be possible to get a text console with installer (Ctrl-Alt-F?) and also boot it into rescue mode: https://www.2daygeek.com/centos-8-rhel-8-boot-into-rescue-mode-from-installation-dvd-iso/

Hi,

I managed to get it working by booting/installing as UEFI

PCI ID 0000:16:05.5 RAID bus controller [0104]: Intel Corporation Volume Management Device NVMe RAID Controller [8086:201d] (rev 07)

Sounds like the device has firmware, but only for UEFI. Hence the device is not usable in legacy mode.

(I had opposite effect on old NVidia Quadro 4000 cards ; they work only in legacy mode.)
