I have an issue with one of our Rocky Linux machines (9.5). It is equipped with an AMD GPU (AMD Radeon RX 6600) and two Dell U2723QE Displays. If the displays go to standby or are switched off and on again they won’t receive a signal anymore. We have similar machines where the only difference is a Nvidia GPU, which has other issues but not this one.
My assumption is that the GPU goes to some sort of hibernation since it has nothing to do, but can’t wake up properly and send a signal to the displays. I don’t know what to look for. Any suggestion is welcome.
Maybe some additional information/symptoms
If if try to restart the display manager in this state
sudo systemctl restart display-manager
The machine crashes and needs a hard reboot by hand.
If the user does not logout and does not switch off the monitor, the problems seems not to be present.
I’m really a bit frustrated. We have several machines in our lab. Initially equipped with Nvidia cards, but there it feels like that after every second updated the drivers break. Thus I wanted to switch to AMD GPUs, but then this problem popped up.
Suggestions are welcome and help is appreciated!
