I installed Rocky v10, but the KDE doesn’t display the brave bowser or any other browser ICONS, i tried to browse the KDE editor menu option but the ICONS seem to be missing for those newer browsers.
Also why is the installed FireFox (packaged with rocky linux) so slow in launching - had the same issue on Rocky 9.5, 9.6…so i tend to remove it & install the version on the firefox website along with any browsers i prefer libre, brave etc
How does one get the missing browser ICON of brave please? Re-installation doesn’t fix it.
Do i have to dump an icon here? : /usr/share/icons/
I noticed this on GNOME. There’s only basic Adwaita folder/etc icons installed, but no app icons. I’m going to try something like Kora icons pack next:
Apps typically only reference the title of an icon in their .desktop file, so something like “Icon=google-chrome” and then it looks for that icon name in your existing hicolor icons in /usr/share/icons/hicolor (or whatever icons you have set). I’m assuming the default RL icons don’t have many included.
I’m going to take a closer look the next time I’m booted in to Rocky.
Yes, but it looks like RL10 in general is affected by an upstream issue relating to Chromium browsers installed via their official repos:
A manual fix for chromium browsers is to edit the their .desktop file and set the icon path. For example in: /usr/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop
Change the Icon line to:
Icon=/opt/google/chrome/product_logo_128.png
Another RL10 GNOME issue I noticed is that changing the icon pack via GNOME Tweaks breaks symbolic icons in places like the Nautilus sidebar. Strange.
The package update will usually overwrite it. You could move your version with updated icon path to ~/.local/share/applications/ and pin that one to KDE/GNOME panel.
Thank you, another quick easier method I found today was if you use the KDE edit menu option (GUI), then browser dir to /opt/[app name]/icons (select any imgs in the dir eg. product_logo_64.png).
That is the lazy guy option
Another question i have is i wanted to restart (refresh) KDE but “startplasma-wayland, kstart plasmashell, kquitapps5 plasmashell etc” doesn’t work.
