Clipboard sharing not working from Windows host to Rocky Linux 10 guest in VMware

Hello,

I’m experiencing a one-way clipboard issue with Rocky Linux 10 running as a VMware guest on a Windows host.

Environment:

  • Guest OS: Rocky Linux 10

  • Host OS: Windows

  • Virtualization: VMware Workstation/Player

  • VMware Tools: open-vm-tools and open-vm-tools-desktop installed

What I’ve done:

  1. Installed open-vm-tools and open-vm-tools-desktop packages

  2. Started and enabled the vmtoolsd service

  3. Enabled “Drag and Drop” and “Copy and Paste” in VMware’s Guest Isolation settings

Issue:

  • :white_check_mark: Copying from Rocky Linux to Windows works fine

  • :cross_mark: Copying from Windows to Rocky Linux does NOT work

Question: Has anyone encountered this asymmetric clipboard behavior? Are there any additional configuration steps or services I need to enable for bidirectional clipboard sharing to work properly?

Any help would be appreciated!
