企业用户可以从CentOS7平滑过渡到Rocky Linux吗？

就如标题所言，我们可能更关注企业服务器中，正在运行的CentOS是否可以平滑的过渡到Rocky Linux。比如升级的方式。

我很看好这个项目，特别想为之做些有意义的事情，不过直到目前还没有想好做些什么。

There is no smooth upgrade method. When preparing to upgrade from 7 to 8, You should reinstall the entire system, when you want to upgrade from Centos7/RHEL7 to Rocky8/Centos7/RHEL8.
不能平滑更新。当准备从7升级到8时，你应该重新安装整个系统。

@berlin, please try out https://www.tecmint.com/upgrade-centos-7-to-centos-8. I am surprised after two tests(C7min and C7withGUI), I was able to upgrade them to C8. But these two are test lab instances, not like enterprise C7 got deployed.

Also for tools assisted migration, RHEL7toRHEL8 in-place migration is supported via leapp automation framework. It is just no one prepare leapp actor/repository for centos7to8 or centos7/R8.

hi @ybaojun, how about let’s study leapp and prepare a centos7toRocky8 repo/actors.

AlmaLinux did see this gap to fill the void by modifying leapp as Elevate and prepare the needed data set for RHEL downstream distros including RL. IMHO, With this tool and community behind it. I see the light of keep using RHEL/RL for the long term(ie, RHEL/RL8 and beyond).
