Cannot install rocky 10

Trying to install rocky 10 on an old Centos7 disk.

When I am tryiong to select the target disk, I cannot navigate the screen, nothing is happening when pressing TAB nor Arrow keys, There is no highlightning on the various choices, and I cannot figure out how to delete the old partitions since the minus key doesent seem to do anything.

I would try to first format targeted disk before OS installation with tool like:

And how to do that with no working OS?

It would be simpler if the installation program actually worked with keyboard and display only.

The cited web page by @0x0 includes instructions for:

“GParted Live is a small bootable GNU/Linux distribution for x86 based computers.
It enables you to use all the features of the latest versions of the GParted application.”

Hope that info helps,

Tony

If you have no working OS on that PC to create USB in first place, you could try using LiveCD ISO with USB to create one. Maybe your Android phone have some ISO burning tools …

Finally managed mto install it, by trial and error, Devs should really have look on the install program, so the various options etc gets highlighted when selected.

Glad to hear you managed to install.
Could you provide picture of that highlight part you think you had problem with ?

To late now, since its installed., basically, it is simple, In the setup-program, when you select something that you want to convigure, it is not highlighted, so you do not know what you have selected, i.e when ready with the disk option, there is no way to know if you have selected the “Finished” button ( the one on the top left corner), that ends the disk dialog and returns you to the main window.

You mean that on the GUI installer focused element was not clearly indicated.
One does not usually pay attention to the focus when one does use mouse to select,
but it is essential when using keyboard.

In el10 the GUI installer runs on Wayland, unlike in the earlier major versions that did use X11. That could contribute.

The installer is maintained by Red Hat devs, so that is whon you should direct the feedback to.

Yes, exactly, with a mouse it does not matter, but with a keyboard only, it is essential.
