An unknown error has occured Upon attempt to install RL 10

So I have had RL 9.5 installed for a bit now but I can’t do anything on it because it just doesn’t connect to the internet. With or without ethernet. I can’t figure out why. So I tried to install the latest version and I still have a major problem. I’ve read through the posts about other similar issues and could not troubleshoot. I get he same error box that disappears after a few seconds and all I have time to read is that “an unknown error occured”. Ive tried downloading the DVD ISO a few times and tried different USB sticks. It’s not the USB drive. Please help.

What makes you think installing RL10 is going to solve your problem? From your prior posts you have specific software that you want to use. Does this software work with the “wayland” graphics backend that RL10 uses?
It is inevitable that once you get RL10 installed you will have issues and again we will be asking you for specific command line output to help us understand what the problem is.

Do you still have 9.5 installed, or did you wipe it in order to try and install v10?

The original post sounds a bit muddled, two different issues; a) Rocky 9.5 can’t connect to internet, b) Can’t install v10.

Hey thanks for replying! So yes, I still have 9.5 installed. I thought to wipe it and try the installation again to see if maybe there was some unknown factor here preventing the install but it wouldn’t make sense. I have installed linux over an existing installation often before. So before I did anything further I thought to come here. My primary problem which is why I posted is that RL 10 simply will not install. I read somewhere that It may be a bug but that was posted somewhere Aug 9 I believe. Not too sure anymore.
On my existing install, I can’t update anything nor SH anything. It will not connect to internet at all even thought it shows connected. Yes, with wifi and ethernet. I just don’t understand what is going on. I have not been able to use it at all.

You need to test if your computer supports x86_64v3 instruction set.
Beyond that you are going to have to tell us the exact steps of the RL10 install you took as in how far you got. Were you able to boot into the install ISO?

Thanks Here is what I got…~$ [quote="jbkt23, post:3, topic:19562"]
~$ /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 --help | grep x86-64-v
  x86-64-v4
  x86-64-v3 (supported, searched)
  x86-64-v2 (supported, searched)

Oops, sorry for the delay in answering the second half. Was just checking in to see if there was nay reply. Like I stated before, it seems like it wants to boot up off the flash drive and then I get to a gray screen which is where I get the error message that appears for a moment titled, “an unknown erro has occured”….Then nothing else happens.

This is in the Rocky10 Release Notes under Known Issues:

Grey screen after bootup of installation media

In specific hardware configurations, such as virtualized environments with 3D graphics enabled, you may experience Anaconda hanging before the setup wizard is displayed. This issue should be resolvable by switching away from tty6 to another tty and then back to tty6. For example, switch to tty1 and back to tty6 with: Ctrl+Alt+F1 and then Ctrl+Alt+F6.

Ok Thank You very kindly! I was excited to try this so I fired her up again and while it was booting I pressed those keys but they did nothing. I will read through the install page though.
