AMD Strix Halo ROCM - OPENCL

Hi I just installed Rocky Linux on my Lenovo ThinkPad T14S Gen 6 AMD with AMD Strix Halo.

I would like to use my laptop for video editing applications like DaVinci Resolve. I managed to install DaVinci without major issue. I used before Fedora and Archlinux. I am joining Rocky Linux because the compatibility with RHEL 10 which support other cool software like LabView.

I am having tons of problems trying to figure it out how to install ROCM and OpenCL. On Fedora you use the command dnf install rocm-opencl and in Archlinux they have their own package which install everything related with AMD ROCM and OpenCL.

How can I perform that task?. I looked on the AMD propertary drivers but that drives does not support Strix Halo GPU plus they are not release for RHEL 10.

I also look for the library called mesa-libopencl but that is not avaliable yet. I know most of AMD hardware is done by MESA, but what about opencl and rocm.

Does every distribution make the package and then distributed?.

Please any help is welcome.

ROCm doesn’t support RHEL 10 yet: Compatibility matrix — ROCm Documentation

Hi. I noticed that. I thought it was a way due other distros are not supported as well but they have a package which enable this functionality. I am using on my laptop Rocky 10 and on my desktop Rocky 9.6. I was able to install it on Rocky 9.6 very wheel. I will using my desktop when doing video and hopefully soon ROCM will be available on Rocky 10.

I also try to build ROCM from scratch but I got some errors which I don’t really understand. I treid the same with AMDVLK and got errors.

I guess, I will wait. I do love the stability of Rocky 10.
