What the differance between those 2 isos for rocky 9

Hello

why there 2 iso for rocky 9 DVD here

https://download.rockylinux.org/pub/rocky/9/isos/x86_64/

one called Rocky-9.0-x86_64-dvd.iso and the other one called Rocky-9.0-20220728.0-x86_64-dvd.iso

what the difference ?

thanks for your time and help

Note the dates on them:

29-Jul-2022 Rocky-9.0-20220728.0-x86_64-dvd.iso
05-Jul-2022 Rocky-9.0-x86_64-dvd.iso

The older was created clearly before official release. The other one is very recent.
Apparently some users had issues with the first one and Rocky has rebuilt a better image.

Therefore, use the Rocky-9.0-20220728.0-x86_64-*.iso

thanks @jlehtone

i notice the date but wanted to know what was the issue (sorry for not clearing that in my post)

also if the old one has issue
should not the link in this page https://rockylinux.org/download be with the new one so no one download the old one

thanks and have a nice day

i found this one

Other than the joliet issue, although the original DVD worked fine for me with VM’s mounting them. The second, which I also noticed, was when fullscreen at 1920x1080 there was a CSS issue, in that the graphic down the left hand side of the screen didn’t scale. Those are at least the only issues I know of from posts on the forum anyway.

Yes, the new images were a result of the reported joliet issue… There’s also newer ppc images as there were reports that those didn’t boot either. If we end up getting a new shim (15.6) within the next few months, we plan to reissue all iso’s across the board, with new torrents and updated links. But it’s highly dependent on the shim review board. We didn’t change the links on the front page because these were adhoc images made to address a couple bug reports.

With that being said, if there are other issues with any image, we are open to issuing new images if need be, regardless of architecture. A lot of the issues should be snubbed out for 9.1 this coming fall.
