Hello, in my version 10, all was ok, for new installation I used to install development tools ant my yum and dmf corrupt with some file conflict. I even trying using rescue mode but still failing to restore. Kindly guide right step.
You say that you used the command dnf group install “Development Tools” but your second photo shows “yum install lynx”, and we have no idea what your first photo is supposed to be showing at all.
From what I see on the screens, looks like they have broke their system, since dnf now isn’t working. Which makes me curious what were the exact steps that they got themselves in this situation. The information they posted so far doesn’t help, they need to provide a lot more information.
I doubt very much that a dnf group install broke it. I expect there is something else they are not telling us.
Hi, I have informed after installing development tools, my system seems installed like openssl 3.4.0 , may be broken or conflict with installed openssl 3.2.2
Now my yum and dnf installation giving error as shown, now I am in trouble and need support to recover my system.
And where did you get openssl 3.4.0 from? It doesn’t exist in Rocky 10. What files have you go under /etc/yum.repos.d ?
Sounds to me you have added an unsupported repository.
Actually I am trying to do some AI integration in my asterisk, in that context I trying to install few applications or updates. When I done with development tools, it installed and updated many things and problems start, i tried with rescue mode also but same error there also, I am still trying to resolve but failed, waiting for resolution. Thanks
It’s not possible to get OpenSSL 3.4.0 on your system from Rocky repositories because it doesn’t exist. You are not telling us everything or providing us with enough information in how you caused this problem.
I would suggest you reinstall your system - that will solve your problem. Unless you are going to tell us exactly everything that you did, nobody is going to be able to help. You have broken your system by installing an unsupported OpenSSL version.
Thanks for replying but what I did I mentioned, dnf group install Development Tools and trouble start, this is my one of server so reinstall would be tough, i need to repair issue with expert help. Can you guide steps to remove or replace bothering files.
From the limited information that you have posted about this (including no information at all about how you actually got to where you are now) it appears that you have broken your installation to a point that it’s likely not fixable.
At this point, the fix is to reinstall the operating system from scratch, then install the Development Tools using the dnf command WITHOUT trying to install unsupported versions of openssl, unofficial repositories of dubious quality, and the like.
If your tasks actually require unsupported versions of the software that comes with Rocky Linux you may be using the wrong operating system and would be better off using an operating system that actually includes what you need.
Frankenstein style operating systems usually don’t end well.
So this is your final answer to reinstall, it would be big trouble for me, our all three servers are with Rocky linux 10, still I am waiting for resolution, this is true I made this mistake regarding development tools installation without knowing it’s result, ![]()
2464 docker ps
2465 pip install requests pyaudio gTTS playsound
2466 yum install portaudio19-dev python3-dev
2467 pip install pyaudio
2468 yum install portaudio19-dev python3-dev
2469 dnf install portaudio19-dev python3-dev
2470 dnf group install “Development Tools”
2471 dnf install portaudio19-dev python3-dev build-essential
Can you guide me to the exact steps for Rescue mode, I have researched with grok and it is telling me steps to go through rescue mode.
But I made mistakes before with guidance with AI in the past.
If you expert people guide me all good steps , I will try.
thanks
portaudio19-dev doesn’t exist as packages in official Rocky repositories, neither does build-essential - both are Debian packages. So where did you get it from and why did you install them? Also it seems these were installed AFTER the group install, which would suggest that the group install is not the problem here.
Until you provide more information on ALL steps you did to get into this situation, nobody is going to be able to help. A dnf group install doesn’t install openssl 3.4.0 so that is not the command that broke your system. I am 100% sure the problem is the unsupported packages that you have installed from some unofficial sources and they are responsible for breaking your system. And yet despite me asking repeatedly for information on repositories configured under /etc/yum.repos.d as well as other answers, you have ignored my questions in my attempt to help you.
I have a Rocky 10 server installed with the “Development Tools” group and don’t have this problem, which proves already that you problem is caused by unofficial and unsupported packages that the Rocky team are not responsible for.
I have consistently asked you to provide information, and you continue to fail to provide it. So until you do provide ALL information, then I am not willing to help you fix your system.
The fact that dnf is now broken because of it, and with dnf being a critical element to installing and removing packages on your system, you are going to find it hard if not impossible to fix your system. Hence, why I and others are telling you to reinstall your system. Even booting into rescue mode alone isn’t going to help fix your problem, since you and we need to know exactly what was done to find a solution to the problem, but again, you have failed to provide all information, so it’s impossible for anyone to help.
I suggest you stop relying on searching AI platforms on asking you how to do things since they inherently give the wrong answers. Also by simply copying/pasting output from AI platforms or the internet without actually having any knowledge of Linux or any of the commands you are running also means you end up with risking breaking your system - just like you have done. You need to learn and understand first what you are doing before you just copy/paste things and break your system.
If you break a system and have no knowledge of how to fix the problem you have caused, your quickest solution is to reinstall your system and then do not break it again by repeating what you have done so far.
Thanks for your reply.
I never want to make my system go down, and I don’t think I have installed any unofficial software but yes I made some mistakes. I checked history and already shared it with you. I am not doubting Rocky linux 10 as my other system is working good , so this is my fault for this mistake. I was in the process of integrating AI tools with my Asterisk server guided by Gemini AI. I will go for a reinstall soon, thank you for your time.
