I used the standard image provided inside the OCI console and deployed it to an AMD E4 BM shape and it fails to boot. It works fine on VM shapes. It seems it doesn’t find a boot volume.
Hello there,
Just to confirm, you’re using the Rocky Linux image from OCI that says it’s “From CIQ”, right?
Yes - Rocky Linux 9 (Community Edition) - Provided by CIQ (x86_64)
Rocky Linux 9 (Community Edition) - Provided by CIQ (x86_64)
Rocky Linux 9 (Community Edition) for x86_64 provided for your convenience by CIQ, the founding support and services partner of Rocky Linux.
The shape I am using is BM.Standard.E4.128 which the Rocky image shows as supported.
Version 8 works. Version 9 fails
NM - re-deployed and V9 worked. Must have hit a problem child node. The nice thing is that OCI runs those bare metal nodes through 6 hours of tests when they’re terminated so hopefully they find it
Great, I was just coming back to say I’d tested on this shape and it looked fine. Glad you got it worked out
