We’ve been using the Azure Marketplace RockyLinux images up until recently, but as we now want to start using Rocky 10, we have to update our build scripts to consume images from the Community Gallery.
Unfortunately, images do not seem to be equally published in all regions.
East US seems to havve the most recent ones, but our infrastructure and requirements are in a different region, rendering those images impossible to use.
Do you have plans to distribute images in all regions or should we update our infrastructure to also support the East US region ?
Below are the images for Rocky 9 (x86) available in East US
I can certainly propagate these to additional regions. I held off on pushing them out because we have to pay for the storage of these artifacts in every region, and Microsoft does not reimburse or credit us for those costs. As a result, we have to be a bit selective in where we publish the images.
Are there specific regions you’re looking for that I can prioritize for you?
@neil, I can see how pushing every image to every region could get expensive. Would it be possible to push just the latest Rocky 9 and 10 images to East US 2? Currently East US 2 only has 9.4.20240509. I tried using this image, but I ran into a similar problem to Diagnosing boot failure. If I use a newer image I uploaded myself (Rocky-9-Azure-LVM-9.6-20250531.0), I don’t have this problem. So, having a newer version of Rocky 9 in East US 2 would be great. Also a version of Rocky 10 would also be greatl. There is no Rocky 10 in East US 2. I have no problem using an older image if I can upgrade to the latest version, but I need a good starting point. Thanks for your help!
