Rocky Linux SAS compatibility

Hi there,

I’ve checked the compatibility matrix provided from the
vendor and it seems that Rocky Linux is not officially supported. Soon enough I will have to upgrade some Red Hat Enterprise 8 virtual machines to Rocky 8.10 and I would like to keep the SAS environment up & running. Is there a way to check if the upgrade will break the appliance? (Losing the support from the Vendor is not a problem)

Thank you in advance for your amazing support.

If the software works on RHEL 8, then it will likely work on Rocky Linux 8. You will have to verify this, as some software looks at /etc/os-release and other files to determine if it’s RHEL and some software allows you to ignore the OS. Some of Oracle’s software for example does this.

Thank you for your reply, right now I can’t replicate in a test environment what would happen after the Rocky upgrade but it seems that the whole sas application uses a custom java virtual machine extracted from a tarball and it’s not installated as an rpm so it shouldn’t be a problem, don’t know why the vendor doesn’t list it as supported though…
