I know that Rocky does not provide an upgrade path between major revisions.
I switched to Rocky from Fedora. I appreciate that Rocky does not have a 6-month major release schedule. But I do miss that there was an upgrade path between major releases.
It’s just a wish, but it would be great if there was an upgrade path similar to what Fedora does to be able to upgrade from one major version of Rocky to another.
The recommended way, even from Red Hat having leapp, is to clean install, restore configuration using things like ansible, and restoring your data. Since even Red Hat cannot guarantee that leapp will work in all cases.
Hi iwalker, good to see you are still here. You were the first name I went in search of. Just discovered that Rocky Linux 10 is out. Rocky Linux 10.0 to be specific. I have been running Rocky 9.6 as a VM on top of my openSUSE 15.6 primary machine. I’m about to nuke Rocky 9.6 VM and create a Rocky 10.0 VM to “kick the tires” of this major release. I KNOW that when I do migrate out of RL 9, to RL 10 it is going to be a FRESH INSTALL FROM THE GROUND UP, not a task I am looking to do, but has to be done, such as having this one tooth extracted. I KNOW has to be done but I HATE DENTISTS as I have extremely LONG and DEEP ROOTS that can take HOURS (NO Exaggeration) to do, but I KNOW it has to be done!!
