R8.8 install went fine, then after installing MATE I received a set of error messages and can't pass them after reboot

Hi there!
As I said, OS installation went fine (brand new machine), but then I installed mate as it was described in the docs and then I received the following message after reboot :
[0.000000] Cannot reserve 256MB crashkernel low memory, please try smaller size.
[1.083594] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: unknown chipset (192000a1)

[4.789059] i2c i2c-2: failed to add I2C device ITE8853:00 from ACPI

Unable to type after this message. Any help is appreciated (explain it as you would to your grandma, I’m a total noob). There’s a lot of RAM in that rig, a quick search made me think that could be the cause of the first line, that is as far as I got…

When you say: As it was explained in the docs, were they these docs? MATE Desktop - Documentation

There is actually a live image that you can install if you want to try 9 instead of 8. Give the step-by-step process as nearly as you can remember.

Yes, but I repeated the steps described in 9: MATE after OS Install. I somehow managed to skip reading the entire live image section on my phone…
edit : dnf upgrade didn’t happen

Did it again from scratch, up and running now… still some warnings, but desktop is loaded, and i suppose drivers will solve at least some of the messages
