ANN: lglicua-0.1-alpha6: Lua, Tecgraf and Rocky Linux 8.5

G’day,

I’ve just released “lglicua” – “Lua GNU/Linux IM/CD/IUP Assistant” – on SourceForge,
at: lglicua download | SourceForge.net

This release supports various Debian/Ubuntu-family and Red Hat-family GNU/Linux
distributions, including Ubuntu, Linux Mint, MX21ahs, CentOS-7 and Rocky 8.5. It
provides a framework – an assistant – to help install, build, patch and run
Toolkit items from a Lua script. For example, a “hello, world” pop-up dialog box
script can be as short as two lines.

PUC-Rio, in Brazil, is the home of Lua: Lua: about,
and the Tecgraf division provides toolkits for scientific/technical projects, notably
IM (Image Processing), CD (Canvas Draw) and IUP (GUI builder+widgets). Rather
than work off of formal releases, the lglicua uses the latest SourceForge Subversion
head for the c/c++/lua code, as this is generally better-maintained.

lglicua supports Lua 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4.

This is the first release of lglicua that supports Rocky Linux; previously, CentOS-8
was partially supported. The tests for all distributions try out only a smattering
of IM/CD/IUP functionality, and, conversely, does not look for library conflicts
(although this is something I’m aware of, and have tried to work around).

Feedback, perhaps including “telling me where to go!” – is there a better Rocky
Linux forum for this sort of announcement? – is welcome.

cheers,
