I started with Linux in 1997 (Redhat 4.2) but didn’t understand much. The adventure started to take off with Redhat 5.1 but around that time the french distro named “Mandrake” released Mandrake 5.1 which was a fork of Redhat 5.1. I started to contribute rpm packages to Mandrake Linux by uploading them to their ftp around 1998/1999. In 2004 I was invited to LSM in Bordeaux (France) where we met for the first time and shortly after that I started to work for them. Between 2004 and 2008 I worked full time with distro animation, productization and rpm package maintenance peaking at around 1500 src.rpm files. Mandriva simply had the largest Apache, PHP and MySQL stack in the world. Between 2009 and 2015 I worked as the Security Team Manager and was managing teams in France, Brazil and Russia but primary I was building, testing and releasing bug and security updates for all released products. During a short period I had Jeff Johnson in the security team (the author of rpm) All this ended with the Mandriva Linux bankrupsy in may 2015.

I’ve been using CentOS for servers since 2011.

I’m NOT a software developer.

I have a deal with my current employer that allows me to devote 8h/week to give back to the Open Source community and I think Rocky Linux could get my full attention.
