Hello everyone, I was inspired by rocky linux because of it’s stability and ease of use, I used to have fedora and windows 11 dual booted in my MSI Modern Laptop, then one day I got bloated with virus in my windows 11 OS which compromised my system. After that incident I decided to burry Windows 11 and say goodbye. I installed and started using Rocky Linux as my only primary Desktop OS in my MSI modern laptop, I can’t complain about anything. I also installed this in my old 2014 late mac mini. Runs like a charm, I installed softwares using flatpak. I use Lutris and Heroic Launcher for playing games. I use Brave Browser and Librewolf for everyday browsing. I use flatpak for installing softwares when it’s not present in Rocky linux core repo. I encrypted the rocky linux at the start, it boots in 5 secs. Only thing that bothers me is using a vpn triggers AVC Denial in SE linux Troubleshooter and I think it will be fixed may be in the upcoming days. I’m also curious what you all rocky Linux for? I love Rocky as a desktop OS honestly… It’s weird, there’s like a stigma that using something like Rocky is like too “behind the times” for dev work, but I’m sick of spending hours upon hours fixing my OS because it’s unstable and unreliable, so that I can’t even get work done. On Rocky, it mostly “just works”. Maybe it’s just because I’m a linux vet, but it never gets in the way of anything I am trying to do and I have my build toolchains in containers anyway, so I pretty much just operate with like 5 installed programs, and all the build crap is in its own container, not messing with my host. I’ve found the stability and reliability of Rocky + that config to be absolutely amazing and boosted my productivity more than any AI model has.
