# Rokcy8.9 support

I know rokcy8.9 is EOL but does it still get any security updates? [Rocky Linux | endoflife.date](https://endoflife.date/rocky-linux) based on this it says the security support is still there till 2029. Are there any plans to release 8.11 and drop support for 8.10 or 8.10 will be supported till 2029?

When we started rocky8, 8.9 was the latest and we thought it will have support till 2029 and wanted to get confirmation on that.

And what will be the LST in rocky9?

It does not. See [this page](https://wiki.rockylinux.org/rocky/version/#__tabbed_1_1) which shows what is supported.

Only 8.10 is supported with security updates till 2029, as detailed on the above wiki link.

Before May of 2024, 8.9 was indeed the latest. However in May of 2024, 8.10 was released which superseded 8.9 immediately. This means 8.9 is not supported and you are recommended to update your system to 8.10 using `dnf update`.
