# Rocky Linux Repo open-vmware-tools not updated to the latest version

Hey there, i was wondering if the repo for Rocky Linux 9 will be updated to the most recent version of open-vmware-tools? We are currently a few version behind from the current version which is 12.5.2. Is there any plan to update them?

Rocky has the same packages as RHEL, so if RHEL pushes a new open-vm-tools package then Rocky will also have it.
Historically it looks like this:

so yes, most likely a newer version will appear at some point - when that will be who knows?!? I expect since RHEL 9.6 is released, then 12.5.0 will appear in Rocky 9.6, but nothing more than that right now. Currently Rocky 9 has 12.4.0.
Never expect all the packages in RHEL or Rocky to be the latest possible version, that’s not how Enterprise Linux works.

Also, interesting side-note, RHEL10, which will be shortly released only has 12.5.0 as well. So this will be the same for Rocky 10.
