Hmm, getting a bit hacked off with the Gen 10! The performance is horrendous, even with just chrome running on it … it regularly clocks a load average above 5 making it just about unusable. I’ve ordered up a couple of 16GB DDR4 mem sticks to see if that can kick it into life, but my gut feel is that it is completely CPU bound.
Seriously considering going back to the Gen 8 … and I’ve ordered up a dual DP graphics card that … if it works ok I’m going to bin the Gen 10 and go back to my Gen 8.
Sad state of affairs HP when a computer two revisions newer cannot hold a candle to the old hardware …
o Returned the MicroStation Gen 10 to the eBay seller who fortunately accepted returns
o Bought a dual DP half height graphics card for the Gen 8 and installed RL9
Gen 8 is running like a champ, waaay better than the Gen 10. Thanks for all the help and advice, I’m a happy camper!!
P.S. The default BIOS settings on the Gen 8 do not allow you to boot from PORT 5 and also use the drive trays. You need to switch to Legacy mode (from AHCI or RAID modes), reboot and then change the priorities on the drive controllers so it “sees” the SSD on PORT 5 before the drives in the drive trays, Took me a while to work that one out!!!
