Pulling my hair out trying to get remote login to a fresh install of Rocky 10. I’ve gone through the guidance here and on the Red Hat site, and a few other sites. Configured the connections panel in Gnome and ensured that the port is open and the gnome desktop rdp is listening on the port.
None of the rdp clients (Linux, Mac, Windows) will connect and all give an authentication failure. I understand that there are credentials for logging into the service, which will then pass one to the standard Gnome login screen. Never get to the Gnome login screen…failure is authenticating to the rdp service.
ssh works both directions with any of the Linux, Mac, and Windows machines, but not rdp.
Thank you. That is much more info than I discovered at Red Hat the first time. I’ll work my way through the configuration and report back here.
Update 9 Jan: Turning off Desktop Sharing (only enabling Remote Login) on the RL 10 server allowed me to connect without a credential error. However, I get a black screen on the ‘Microsoft app’ on the MacBook Air and after about 30 seconds the app closes. That is progress, but not success. Will try a different machine and rdp client to see if the problem is global or with the MacBook app.
Not so much for me as it is for my spouse. She is a GUI only user, and I have to be able to provide a remote GUI to her when we are traveling away from the home server.
