# Flatpak search broken on Rocky Linux 8

Hi,

Flatpak works perfectly under Rocky Linux 9. Once Flathub is configured, here’s what a search returns on Rocky Linux 9:

```auto
# flatpak search skype
...
Skype Call and message skype users com.skype.Client 8.134.0.202 stable flathub
...

```

And here’s the same search under Rocky Linux 8:

```auto
# flatpak search skype
F: Failed to parse /var/lib/flatpak/appstream/flathub/x86_64/active/appstream.xml.gz file: Error on line 7058 char 29: <p> already set '

```

This has been broken for quite some time. Any idea how to fix it?

On a side note, it’s not really a showstopper, since one can always use Flathub’s web interface to search for Flatpaks. It’s just a bit annoying, that’s all.

You should open a ticket for EL8 upstream. The same was done for EL9 already and fixed ([https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-28856](https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-28856))

This is covered in [this document](https://docs.rockylinux.org/desktop/gnome/flatpak/) (see the warning in the “Flatpak Commands” section). This references the EL9 version, but the workaround is to use Flathub instead of the commands.
